HOW DOES STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION WORK?

By lengthening and opening the patterns in the connective tissue.  As a result the thickened, toughened tissue becomes soft, re-hydrated and more pliable, thus allowing movement and flexibility.  Structural integration changes the body’s compensations because it organizes the imbalances in the tissue.   The systematic approach to relating gravity through the myofascial layers aligns the body and improves posture.  The body lengthens allowing muscles the space to work and joints the freedom to function

HOW DOES STRUCTURAL INTEGRATION FEEL?

Many people have heard that Structural Integration is a painful process.  Much of this reputation came from the early days when Structural Integration was first gaining public recognition.  Since that time, the work has greatly evolved.  Structural Integration is not about forcing the body to change, it’s more about working with the client to release holding patterns in their body. Momentary discomfort is not uncommon in areas with old injuries and chronic stress. However the discomfort is usually followed by a wonderful feeling of release and relaxation.
